It has always amazed me that Winnipeg didn't/doesn't have more Mexican restaurants. While I was in Vegas I went to one Mexican place that was outstanding, it was called Border Grill.

Now I see a new Mexican Restaurant is opening up in Osborne Village, La Bamba Restaurant. This news makes me happy!

LaBamba looks more TexMex too from their website...but I'd be willing to check it out and see.

Border Grill is Mexican, not Tex Mex. We also went to Cabo Wabo Cantina (Sammy Hagar's) and it was decent...they make one amazing margarita! Smile

Border Grill's menu I would call mexican fusion.....damn it looks good. Now why can't someone do that here? Well, two reasons....first reason - hard to get the real ingredients if one wants to get as authentic as possible.....second reason - many folks up here are so used to the Tex Mex crap that when they are confronted with the real thing?

The prices here one would have to charge and when I saw the prices for that one joint in the exchange I thought, what a ripoff because they are not doing anything special or authentic but they are certainly charging as if they were.....I did not see a menu posted for la Bamba....time will tell.

I still wanna check out the new Tapas place Segovia.....it looks to be very swanky.

The last time I went to Carlos & Murphy's, I was not impressed. The food was something they apparently microwaved, quite unappetizing.

Anyone been to the new Mexican place on St. Mary's? Next to Glenlawn Collegiate where Bobbie's used to be. The sign out front (about a lunch special) made me think it was open, but it doesn't look open (judgment based on a quick glance from my car, not on anything more substantial).

I think it was called Tio's.

I don't visit Mexican restaurants very often. Other than Tacos not much I find too appealing.

You guys need to try JC's Tacos on Henderson Hwy located in the old post office. The owners are all from Mexico and food is fantastic. The decor is nothing spectacular but the food and service is terrific. They even have authentic Mexican soft drinks and beer.

Been there no less than a dozen times and have tried everything on the menu. Everything they offer is stellar. Dinner for 2 around $30.00.

I've heard great things about this place. It's far from where I live and work, but I may make the trip anyway.

JC Taco's can be a bit on the bland side. The organic meats are sometimes chewy, too. It's gotten the most hits and comments on dineout.
