From what I can tell HurtinAlbertan didn't start discussing Alberta is was Pavolo....

No it was meant to explain why the cost of labour on our favorite subject might be the same or less , seeing as the demand for workers has gone down .

First you forget the team lost 5 mill a year and the arena which the city owned lost whatever and we picked that up too. Plus paid the people to run it with the stadium . Which also lost money every year , so we lost alot more then you know . The last time I talked to Barry Shenkarow he had calculated it to 12 mill a year of which he lost 5 to 7 mill that was way back when .
Today the salaries are a lot worse . and the building is gone . If we had not spent so much time debating the question we might still have a team , but we debated it into the ground . We could have done what we did anyway and saved the team way back when .

The coyotes still make a huge amount of money from selling Winnipeg Jets gear to us Winnipeggers, plus the exhibition games they play in Winnipeg make them enough money to pay most of their players for the year.

I personally blame Bettman and Winnipeg Enterprises for the loss of the Jets.

Well, not really. It pays for some/all (???) of their exhibition costs. Money they could not even hope to earn in Arizona.

Barry Shenkrow I believe still has the rights to the merchandise or at least a cut of the sales .

Actually the NHL owns the rights to any merchandise sold from vintage Winnipeg Jets gear. The Coyotes may get 1/30 of the revenue generated from Jets sales, but that's as far as it goes.

And how do you know this ?

Well sport, I would absolutely love to post my personal letter to the staff of the CMHR for you to see. Unfortunately, I just can't be bothered at this time of night. You see, Grumpy, I'm a busy guy. Today I worked 10 hours, got paid (payday!!), paid some bills online, went to do some errands, spoke to my daughter, then hit the gym for 2 hours. Finally I drop by my lady friend's house and chilled.
So forgive me if I don't deliver a prompt response to the inquiry from some guy who resides over 1000 km away, and seems, on occasion to show signs of being emotionally unstable. Wow where does that come from? I did not ask for a prompt response sport. Just the contents of your letter. And why is it now personal? You've made the fact you've written the
letter public. You're constantly bitching in public about the lack of response.You seem to find time to constantly bitch about the time it takes to get a reply. You found time to post some 18 year old Jets video. Can't cut and paste a simple letter?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am concerned about the new museum being built in the city. I have heard that the Museum will be largely bankrolled by the Public. I have also heard rumors that you have drastically reduced your estimates on how many Canadians will visit the museum each year. Finally, what are the operating costs annually once the Museum is completed.

If you can provide me with this information, I would greatly appreciate it, as I am concerned that the Museum will be built at great expense to the citizens of Manitoba.

If I worked for the museum, I wouldn't answer the letter...I'd probably file it in the nearest shredder.

It's accusatory and insinuates misuse of public funds.

But that's just my interpretation of the "tone".

Sorry, Ace. I didn't mean to be so bold as to question the state of funding for your beloved muesum. I'm so sorry.

That's still no excuse not to reply to a concerned citizen.

So enlighten me then, Ace. How would you have written the letter?

Put simply...I would've joined their "Friends" list...each of them will get a copy of the "plan" once it has been approved.

And, if you've read my posts about it...I'm not completely for or against the museum. My biggest argument about it, is that they are thinking too small.

They are begging for money which should take a phone call to a couple of private investors...not a "campaign" from millions of people.

The concept of the museum is unique...and hopefully can be maintained and developed for the future...but that's me.

As far as your letter of request goes. Now that the museum has been listed as a Crown Corporation...all of the answers to your question can be found on their website(s) (there are two). Complete with estimated numbers & costs.

And...let's just take a quick thought. You sent a letter or an e-mail? If it's a letter...and say 15 million other Canadians (not even half the population) did the same. Do you really think the museum has $8M in postage to answer them all? And since what you're requesting would be in a large package format...it's probably more than that. If they had that much extra postage money lying around...they wouldn't be asking for money.
