There was a poll in the Free Press where 18% said no, stop these games. I'm just curious. Why would one want to stop these events? They seem to be hugely popular. The three times such an event have been held between NHL teams have been hugely popular. Not just in the city where the game is held but all over Canada and the US.

WFP Poll Results as of 8:30am this morning:

They definately should start playing alot more outdoor games. If for no other reason then to maybe just maybe get some of the 18 and under hockey games in leagues played outdoors again. ( they stop playing outdoors for official games at age 8 )

Imagine a Winnipeg Jets game held at the stadium...

Outdoors... That's where hockey started, that's where hockey should be played.

They should continue with the games, but I don't think they should have them more often because the novelty will wear off.

Agreed. One a year, on New Years Day, is a great annual treat.

Why is this even a poll? What is the issue with having outdoor NHL games? These events bring out the simplicity of this great sport, and bring people together. What in the hell is wrong with that?

This isn't directed at you grumps, but rather at the gay-ass FP who clearly have nothing better to report on.

I got out of bed yesterday before 10AM and went and cleaned the rink next door to my house. The parents from one of our teams helped out because they were bringing the whole team out for a new years skate. It took till 1PM to clean it and flood it.. but it was well worth it as the kids were there until 6 at night.

Now why cant they show that dedication for outdoor games instead of just for fun.

They used to play hockey on the Red but it was banned. Some guy had a break-away and hasn't been seen since.

That's when they introduced icing, when the puck went over the Red line...
