Shocking how regular deadly accidents occur at this particular stretch of #6 at Grosse Isle. An in-law of mine was killed precisely there in January. That stretch must be straightened as soon as possible

What would straightening the stretch do if the driver fell asleep at the wheel or wasn't paying attention to the road?

There is a steering wheel in the car that allows the driver to turn the wheels to follow the road. It makes more sense to use it than to realign all of the highways that have a curve in them.

sorry for your loss of a family member Jondo,

But I have driven that stretch for..well since I have had my license so over 20 years and YES it is dangerous, but when I drive it, I reduce my speed, I pay closer attention to oncoming vehicles, and these are things I dont need to be told to do. Its automatic.

Hell the stupid little cuts they put in the center recently I find EXTREMELY annoying. because I like to drive in the centre of the road there because its safer when there is no traffic. BUT those cuts in the road are put there for one purpose to warn people ...hey dumbass you crossed the centre line get the frick back on your side...

It's the people that reduce speed in that section that help cause accidents imo. (And I'm one of them!)

I always drop down to 90 there, and you'd be surprised how many fingers get flipped at me.

I wonder how many of those head-on-crashes-with-a-semi are deliberate?

It's pretty simplistic to take the position that these are just dumb drivers meeting their fate. When there is a high incidence of accidents at a particular location - that is cause for a traffic engineering analysis. I'm confident that such an analysis will reveal needed infrastructure improvement - and not that dumb drivers have a club that practices their bad driving habits at that particular location.

Seems that is the case here. I was communicating with in-laws today about this latest accident at this location (which they lost a son to early this year). They reported that two of their grandchildren (kids of the deceased father of 4) were on their way to a movie in Wpg with their friends in a full car last night when this same vehicle was coming directly at them in the wrong lane. They pulled off the road and called their friends who were in a carload a few cars behind them and they reported that it was too late - the small car had just driven directly into the semi - which was traveling BEHIND them. So the driver was in and out of the wrong lane. It appears that the young woman driver must have been suicidal.
