Recently a young girl died because she could not find a donor heart. It was heart-wrenching to watch her mother discuss this issue.

What do you think? Will you donate your organs? Have you discussed this issue with your family and made your wished explicitly known?

Do it today!

I donate blood
I am on the bone marrow list.

However I will not be donating organs when I die.

perhaps some or portions of some if I am alive but not when I die.

Also... Why the hell are we setting up ones that are province specific?

it would cost not one dime more to set one up country wide

Because health care is Provincial?
I am donating all my organs while I am alive, as they are really not doing me much good!

If I'm dead, I won't know what they do to me, so it won't matter. However, I'm not getting on the registry. My family is old country superstitious about things like that, and swear that they knock you off on purpose to harvest you...

Oh, and my grandmother believes we forefit heaven if we mutilate our carcasses, so registry is not much of an option. Again, if I'm veggin' and costing the province money, my spouse/kids/non-maternal side of the family may elect to have me harvested if they so choose.

Will you share with us your rationale?

I assume you speak of the Manitoba donor registry proposal?

Could we not simply re-purpose the gun registry? A database is a database no?

Do you mean a database set up so the government can confiscate our organs??? Because that's the kind of database that was set up for our weapons, amiright?

I plan on living til my organs are well worn and break down enough for me to die. I am an organ donor, but wonder (hopefully) that they won't be any good to anyone else.
