Will this failed experiment (imho) finally come to an end...like the Gun Registry?

It appears that our Prime Minister isn't too impressed with this nonsense either.

Does anyone else think it should be scrapped, or has it made this country better?

There are some parts to it that I like, some that I could care less about and some that I outright hate, like forcing all federal employees to be bilingual. But the biggest problem with it, is the fact that Quebec has and continues to use the not withstanding clause to be able to put a hate on English.

That story is 10 years old. However, it is bang-on as far as I'm concerned. I wonder what Harper said when he saw that in print this morning.

Did you hear the National Anthem at the Bomber game last night? I'm quite certain that had THREE languages involved. Anyone wanna bet that at some point soon some people will demand services in their language(s)?

Time to end this charade once and for all. Declare a single official language. If specific jurisdictions choose to support another language then let them pay for it.

One of the parts I hate more is the Get out of jail free card that French people have routinely used because the "official wording" in French of law or bylaw did not mean the same or because a stop sign had no French on it. type of thing.

I, along with many others in my section noticed the third language and I'm not sure what language it was. Possibly Cree or Ojibwe??? I really didn't catch it all, trying to get the guy in front of me to remove his hat, disrespectful little puke.

Time for Mr.Harper to make English the official language in Canada
It would save businesses and governments a ton of money to stop advertising and print materials in French.
It could even gain him more seats in the next election.

Official bilingualism never seems to retract. If anything, with every passing decade, it becomes more entrenched. Harper won't win a lot of Quebec votes next time if he diminishes the language laws. Not that he needed Quebec to win a majority this time...

You do realize that even in France, they don't have Arrèt written on their STOP signs. Certain things are just plain ridiculous.
