I have absolutely no problem with those salary levels and benefits. If anything, the salaries are low.

I would not say low. I would say reasonable , assuming they actually work 40 hoursish on average per week.


But do they work is the question. Some of them cant even be bothered to update their websites since 2002.

I dont want to point them out.. but the one in particular rhymes with Garvey Smith. no wait scratch that, thats not right. Harvey Biff. yeah thats it.

I disagree completely.

The councillors are payed well above their ability-levels.

Example: My councillor (Jeny Gerbasi) is not worth half what she is being paid.

She sits at a desk and every so often spews some crap than goes back to head-bobbin.

There is not one single councillor that is not in the best place they have ever been...receiving the best pay they will ever get in their lives.

I would like to see a return to where people sacrificed to become councillors....where they took a pay decrease to SERVE the public....not the other way around.

You should stand for election next time jtf. One of your platforms can be: you'll donate 100% of your stipend to a charity. I'll vote for you...

As to getting what you pay for? Sure, some are complete slugs. Some work very hard for their constituents. Other then the aforementioned councillors I have no idea who is working hard and who is hardly working.

But then again someone else might think the world of gerbasi. And how smith keeps getting re-elected is anybody's guess.

But those salary levels aren't high by any measure.

Many years ago, I did run for council.

On election night, I remember taking the Muse aside and asking her what the hell I was thinking.

I had become soooo wrapped up local issues that I ran to make sure a certain guy wouldn't get elected. I did manage to split the vote and the jerk didn't win, but I was actually leading at times....which frightened the hell outa me.

Once is enough thank you. Smile

Re: Salaries. I cannot think of any (off the top of my head) that aren't slugs.
