Sorry, Dean, but I find myself agreeing with the rest of the posters here.

But it will increase the number of paid visits.

Have we learned nothing from the NHL Sun Belt Fiasco? Wink

problem is it wont increase the number of paid visits. those will go down because of less repeat visits. Last time I went to a free zoo day.. we went three more times that year. its the same for many people. thats the whole reason for offerring one free day (even as insane as it is), to give people a taste, to make them want to come back when its not so busy...

Marketing 101: entice NEW visitors with a call to action (free admission); anticipate some of these new visitors return (measure if possible).

Other benefits: large increase of visitors a) tell others about their findings; 2) buy food and pop; iii) purchase souvenirs.

Marketing 101 does not advocate offering the free admission on the busiest weekend of the year. Of course, it could be this free admission that created the busiest weekend of the year: chicken and egg thing. All the more reason to change it. You will likely lose a few visitors but the increased revenue can be used to improve the experience.

Changing the free weekend to a much less busy weekend sounds like a smart move overall...

sure.. less busy weekend. DURING THE SUMMER I could understand. But not when school and sports have started back up and there are no tourists in the city.
