If I'm not mistaken, if you don't fill one out, you will be reducing the amount of transfer money from Ottawa.

Is it better to deny Sellinger some cash that he would just piss away or fill out the census?

The penalty for not doing one has been lifted as I recall, so there's no down-side is there?

everyone gets a census form as far as I know. someone just dont get accepted to do the long one.. Mine was in the mail today and typically bulk mail like this takes a few days to make it city/province wide.

When you say - some don't get accepted to do the long one - does that mean you requested/applied for it?

Also, I heard the long-form package includes a glove and lubricant - is that true?

HAH..

no... I have wanted to do the long form since forever.. I was finally lucky enough to get picked.

And yeah... glove and lube would be nice.. its taking rather long to complete and since I have a bad case of stomach flu today.. I have had to stop and log back in a couple of times.

I see the problem. You're using the glove backwards. The logs go out - not in.

I got the short form. I haz so many kids it took me 2 days to fill out. This would make sense if I was able to post my religion!

You might get one of two forms in the mail.1) A basic form just containing an access code that you can fill online. 2) The actual paper questionnaire where can send it in. - You can request a a paper questionnaire by phone. In about 4 weeks, 1 of 3 households will receive the National Household Survey (the old Long-Form Census).

It's all voluntary now.

You can be prosecuted if you have been found to be lying on the information you provide.

This is what it says on my questionnaire:

Census information is important for your community and is used in planning services such as schools, daycare, police services and fire protection. Please note that completion of the census questionnaire is required by law.

I cannot find anything that says one is compelled to fill out the form. Seems there is only a penalty if you lie (same as Income Tax).

There has been much talk about harper changing the census from mandatory to voluntary. I don't think that was ever officially changed. I stand to be corrected.

He changed the LONG FORM census that is it.

and having gone through the National Household Survey I cant see what in there people would have an objection to.

I just got off the phone from Stats Can.

The woman I spoke with had to submit my request to higher-ups as she and her supervisor could not give me an actual legal reference to state that it was mandatory.

The Act itself says nothing...only telling of answering the questions honestly.
