LOL.. its awesome

They are all saying.

HE IS NOT DOING ENOUGH TO reduce debt

AND

HE IS NOT GIVING ENOUGH MONEY TO PEOPLE.

blue rod blog had this the other day and it could not be more true then today.

Suppose that every day, ten men go
out for dinner and the bill for all comes to $100.If they paid their
bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing like they do now with the present income tax structure.

The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 of the bill.
So that is what the ten men decide to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the
restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until
one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you all are such good
customers I am going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20”.
Dinner for the 10 men now costs just $80...

The group still wanted to pay the
bill the same way that they paid their taxes so the first four men were
unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six
men -- the Paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so
that everybody would get his “Fair Share”?

They realized that $20 divided by
six is $3.33. But they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the
fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to eat their meal…So,
the restaurant owner suggested it would be fair to reduce each mans bill
roughly the same amount; and proceeded to work out the amounts each man
would pay.

The fifth, like the first four now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth man now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings)
The seventh man now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings)
The eight man now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings)
The ninth man now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings)
The tenth man now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings)

Each of the six was better off then
before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside
the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings…

“I only got a dollar out of the
$20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man “but he got
$10”…“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a
dollar, too. Its unfair that he got ten times more than me!?”“That’s
true”, shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got
only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”“Wait a minute,” yelled the
first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system
exploit’s the poor!”The nine men surrounded the tenth man and beat him
up…

The next night the Tenth man did
not show up for dinner, so the Nine sat down and ate without him. But
when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important.
They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half the
bill!

And that Boys & Girls,
journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The
people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax
reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they
just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start eating
overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier…

I don't know if the Toronto Star put their own spin on this but is it coincidental that the opposition theme was very consistent?

I suspect this is all bluster to placate the voters. "I saw how outraged Jack was so I'll keep voting for him".

I get a kick out of layton bleating "harper just doesn't get it." layton needs to "get" that Canadians don't want anything to do with his party federally. Icewhole.

Unbelievable what some of the nippers are saying.

"When Harper decided not to grant the requirements of the NDP -- which
were relatively modest in the big picture while still resulting in real
gains for seniors -- he was deciding to have an election.

Compromise is essential to make minority government work, but that's not Harper's style.

The
NDP would have had him defer the next drastic cut in corporate taxes,
but even during a time of deficits Harper is just too eager to put
smiles on the faces of CEOs."

Uhh.. yeah... its harpers fault he only did SOME of the things the NDP asked for. Somehow the word compromise must mean give me EVERYTHING I WANT.

Best to ignore the left during times like this. This election utcome will be extrmely interesting. Basically it will be a litmus test to see how plitically atuned Canadian's have become in contrast with the rest of the world. We'll have our own versio of the Tea Party soon if real political progress doesn't occur this election.

Personally I believe Count iggie is 100% wrong when he says

The harper government has lost touch with what ordinary Canadians want.

DEAD WRONG.

I WANT my country to not be running a deficit so that my great grandchildren dont have to pay off the greed of my generation.

this budget MIGHT help that.

but with already and EXTRA 2.3 Billion in it, AND asshats saying thats not enough.. frick

I agree with most of that.

As someone who typically finds himself "to the left" of centre on many issues, I have to admit that for the last 5-10 years there haven't been any "left" candidates that I've voted for. And that's not because there haven't been enough "radical-left" candidates, there have been...they are all waaaay out to lunch IMO.

We're not having an election over the budget - we're having an election because the other parties think they have the Conservatives in the best possible time/position to beat them on recent issues of ethics. It should backfire on them - that's my guess. What's Ig running on - Harper is evil and corrupt? Ig and Layton inuslt the intelligence of all Canadian's with their empty positioning. The Conservative ads coming out soon will capture the real political situation.

Wow. I'm actually thinking of donating money to the conservatives this time around.

I want a majority, just so we don't have to put up with this bull s h it of election threats. Finally they've succeeded in getting an election, and I hope it's a rude awakening...

I can't wait for these election ads. It will be interesting to see how out to lunch the left really are. I'm sure they'll be purpoting to be speaking for real Canadian's - as usual.

All political parties make the claim that they speak for "all Canadians". Who else would they claim to be speaking for otherwise? A minority group? If so, they'd be a minority oriented party. Nobody wants that. Just ask the Green's.

That has always irked me to no end...politicians speaking for ALL Canadians...as if!!

They speak for just their own constituents and nobody else. Layton really pisses me off with his arrogance in that area.

What happens IF/When there is little substanial change in the make up of parliament. The conservatives introduce the EXACT SAME BUDGET.... and the parties??? what go to the polls again demanding a better result?

If they gang up on Harper and force an election, perhaps the electorate who do not want another election will get annoyed at the parties who are forcing an election and give Harper a majority. cheers
