Not sure, but don't be surprised if the Opposition doesn't have enough members present to defeat the motion. That way they can vote against it, but not defeat it.

I'm with you.

I'm thinking that the NDP will support it and a bunch of Liberals will forget to come to work today.

Any MP not in the house for the budget should automatically lose their seat.

Nope. No election today. count iggy and his handlers don't want another election they can't win. Especially if they'll lose more seats. Which I believe they will. Maybe even count iggy will lose his seat...

election triggered today Libs will lose a number of seats to the NDP and Green gain. The split might actually be enough so that while not getting any more votes the Cons still take the seats in question. Libs MIGHT gain a few seats in Poutineville

Election on May 2nd. Conservative majority. This election will be different. It will finally be decided on true political ideology and not on specific incidents of political opportunism/gamesmanship. The People have grown to see past that. Look for immigration and crime issues to be the Conservative focus that will bring the party differences to light. Long overdue fundamental differences will be defined. Canada is at a juncture and the choice is right or left. I think it's fair to say that much of the globe is moving right.

if an election is triggered today.. or at the end of the week as the libs are saying they are going to do but putting in a non confidence motion. One thing is for sure.

Three of the political parties will be without their current leaders before the year is out.

Ig will finally be seen as the scary left wing politician that people have heard enough rhetoric from. He will be thrown immediatelt after the election. Actually he'll resign. Layton stays. May is not even worth commenting on. Harper will of course stay with a majority. He can't be blamed for a minority result in Canada's political structure. If he is - he'll challenge a leadership race and probably win - unless maxime Bernier stands - in which case we'll really see how far right Canadian's want to go. because at that point of political stalemate (minority again) - a strong faction will see no choice but to finally go openly far-right. Until that time - the same old dance routine will continue with not much really changing. A majority is critical now.

I must say - it was brilliant of Harper to appoint Gary Doer Ambassodor to USA. That's the only reason the PC's have a great chance of unseating the Manitoba NDP Dynasty. Offering Chow Bejiing would hopefully get Layton to step down and move with her.

I think tha the minority govt. has been working well by preventing Harper from doing too many stupid things and appearing sane. On the other hand, the opposition did not take any opportunities to shine. So if there was election I would also predict an unfortunate conservative majority.

Nothing unfortunate about a minority gov't. Things will finally happen/change without obstruction.

Layton and Chow would take it in a minute. What better way to live as kings in the communist society they so desperately want?

Too bad the gig comes with Diplomatic Immunity or they'd soon be up on charges for promoting social-reforms of one type or another. Something tells me they'd have no problem living as Queen and King in the country with the world's worst record for human rights and other Canadian-style entitlements.

And telling their new audience that Canada is the best country in the world - without them or their NDP Party ruling over it. Good riddance to both of them.
