My beer never lasts long enough to get warm.

A little of topic, but the freecycle thing is probably greatly accelerating the spread of bedbugs in the city. You'd have to be crazy to pick up old furniture off the curb not knowing what unwanted guests you may be bringing home.

Aren't they cancelling the give-away weekrnd because of the bedbug investation?

It was being discussed.

But anything a bedbug can survive and travel in should be forbidden from the program. It boggles the mind that people today would still pick up someone's discarded couch or mattress and bring it home...

Ewwww...

I agree. Bus shelters are not distribution depots or homelessness service-centres. We have a myriad of those already and they're widely available to anyone. And if I was waiting for a bus at that shack I'd sit anywhere other than on a cushion or blanket that might be left there.

We must understand that this was a publicity stunt eh, and wasn't meant to be a permanent deal. It was just to bring attention to some or other. I don't think anyone wants this to be a permanent thing. I sure hope so at least.

Awesome - if there's a news clipping that you're aware of - let me know. I'll need to pull that out if I get caught dumping my garbage off downtown.

I like to read while waiting for/riding on the bus... that's why I bring my own book!

Giving a book to someone who doesn't know how to read - does that actually promote literacy?

Having easy access to books will promote reading (perhaps) which, in turn, will lead to literacy in the future (hopefully).

Maybe. Can't hurt. Smile

No...easy access to books for people who can't read promotes people staring at incomprehensible words & letters, and frustration and depression.

Heh....when was the last time (first time?) that you read either of those?

One starts off with picture books and not books at that level.
