We have a floodway! Would that protect us?

likely all spots gone already would be my guess as some of these organized "groups" will try to monopolize this.

WTF??? What is a sustainable city anyway??

If he's talking about energy-savings and reducing pollution, etc., why would he need public in-put? The ideas would flow from those directly connected and involved...the city employees.

Offer them money for 'savings' ideas and you'll get more then you could possibly implement in a political term I'd bet.

This just looks like Sam learned a new word...sustainability, and, like it says, if you've got a hammer in your hands, everything looks like a nail.

one that grows and can prosper. Yup thats governments job to handle for sure. Cant see the harm in asking the populace for an opinion. Thats all this meeting is, give us your opinion and ideas.

He's looking for ideas for a new plan for the city it seems. Much bigger than just 'sustainability' I reckon from the announcement.

hat is the goal of the Symposium?

As announced at the 2009 State of the City Address, the City of Winnipeg is developing a new Official Plan, to create a 25-year blueprint for the City's future. The Plan's theme is A Sustainable Winnipeg.

Crucial to the Plan's development is a process of public consultation we are calling the "Involving Winnipegger's Campaign." This public consultation campaign will get underway on April 25, 2009 with this Symposium.

The Symposium will raise awareness of sustainability, seek Winnipegger's view on a sustainability strategy for our city and launch the public consultation campaign for our new Official Plan.

They keep making ammendments to it and changing it and have been for years...this will just be the latest 'bright idea' perhaps....just something new to not adhere to imo. Smile
