No, I don't believe people purposefully force you off the road when merging. Or anytime for that matter.

Nor do I believe that all drivers intentionally accelerate when people use the crosswalk.

And no, I do not believe that people don't care if they get into accidents.

You still don't get my point do you? Not EVERY driver is a bad driver.

Here's the thing, when using the crosswalk wait until all cars have stopped. Keep in mind that not all drivers will see you standing there. Most will stop allowing the pedestrian to cross safely.

I have no idea how to address your forced off the road into a ditch theory. If it happens to you regularly then I'd maybe look into a mirror. It has never happened to me.

Nor can I comment further on this notion that people don't care about accidents.

Vancouver has it's share of really horrible, shitty, terrible drivers. That said, they're horrible and shitty in different ways. I've seen less attempted pedestrian mow-overs, and less cutting off during merges in Vancouver. In Vancouver, there is some bizarre parking juju going on, that prohibits people from pulling into parking spots, parking properly, taking up three or more stalls, blocking doors with parked cars, blocking entire roadways with cars to yak on phones, smashing into parked cars, and a total inability to drive in reverse.

Sorry, but I do not find the driving habits of some drivers very funny.
I am not saying all drivers are good or bad.
But I think there would be a lot less accidents if some drivers were more considerate of their fellow human being.
