The Liberals, NDP and BQ equate to about 64% of the votes versus appx 36% for the Conservatives.
This arrangement is normal in Italy and Israel where there are appx 15 different parties each with 7% , lol of the votes.

I never could understand how we allowed the Conservatives bluster and their ad campaign and their proroguing parliament to stay in power, and all the papers negative coverage to win the day, when any one with any common sense would think that it was a good idea.

Because we as Canadians do not have that type of system

If the NDP, BLOQ and Libs were to run compete campaigns (ie only one of them run in any particular riding) and run on the idea that if they get enough seats they will join and form.. then I would be totally fine with them forming a coalition because that is what they said they were going to do.

My money would be on the conservatives winning majority then though. Not sure how many people outside of Quebec would vote for teh Bloq like that.

we do have that type of system, as Harper has to get votes from other parties to stay in power, the same or similar way Italy and Israel have to get together with other parties to run the country.
Back in the 1960's, I believe that the CCF had the balance of power, and Tommy Douglas to support the Liberals agreed to support the Liberals if legislation was brought in for Health care .
That is no different than our system today, is it?

Also, the parties should TELL THE PUBLIC who they'll be standing with in a coalition BEFORE the elections, and not after, only for personal advantage.
