So my son wants to talk politics with me on Friday.

Cool.

Nothing like an election to get teachers actively talking to students about rolls in society.

So my kid asks me exactly this.. Are you going to vote for Conservatives or the coalition.

WTF??

His teacher is actually telling him there are only two options.

Totally discounting CHP, communist, Pirates, Greens.. whatever.

and only saying that the the bloc, ndp and libs are one party to vote for basically.

While JESUS! should I try and find out if my kid just was barely listening in school?

It's just reality Dean.

Only two people have the chance of becoming Prime Minister.

I would call the school and ask what the discussion was about!
If he is anything like you, he was texting nude pictures of himself to his girlfriends and was not paying attention to what was going on! lol

Agreed, better he find out the truth now, rather than live in a fantasy world where "anything's possible"...but won't.

Much better than throwing your vote away...better yet, just don't vote, that'll show'em!

For the last 5 years we have really been governed by a coalition, because all of the Conservative motions to carry had to have support of the opposition!
it is only Harper who thinks HE needs a majority to Rule properly!
I prefer a co-alition because we do get a little bit of every parties wants , because of the support requirement, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
The Conservatives came up with $300 million for my pension, even though the Communist NDP wanted $700 million. That would have meant $800 more for me in a year- a huge amount.
Remember our Health Care came into being way back when the NDP promised support to the Liberal minority government , I think in the 1960's?

Balderdash! That's just pain and simple, old-fashioned, crazy-talk!

lol!

BTW, many other countries run governments that are made up of coalitions and they do just fine. As you said above, figuratively we've already had a few years of a coalition government anyway.

Or, Rosie, is all this just red-meat to bait others with?

meh.. the USA is basically a coalition gov. look how much they usually have to beg and plead and cajole to get any form of legislation passed.

yeah, talking to the other parties is nattering and bickering...others call it "negotiating", but that's for pussies without majorities.
