The architect is nothing more than a whore for accepting such a contract. The building looks ridiculous with this "thing" sitting on top of it.

hehe...

The design DEFINITELY leaves something to be desired, the concept however, that could have worked. They should have said, we dont like the design, will reconsider if the proposal if you design something in keeping with the current character of the building.

i would have to vote against that design myself though.

Not because of the heritage thing...could care less about it. in fact, tear the stupid building down and build a new one for all i care.

no, i'd vote against it because:

#1 - it's freakin' ugly!!!
#2 - I see it as a safety issue, where melting snow & ice would run down the sides/front of the overhang creating icicles that can (and probably will) spear the sidewalk below, possibly skewering into someone's skull.

I'm all for downtown development...but IF you're going to plan something into an existing structure...it SHOULD resemble that structure in some way, or at least be aesthetically complimentary to it.

who? the guys who drew it? or those voting?

i read it as the guys voting said they liked the architects unique designs...not that they liked that particular one.

I don't see where they loved this particular design. The comment was "they praised Radulovic for consistently conducting creative work".

Agreed. The cantilever was just awkward looking.

I am all for merging modern with with the Exchange, but I won't be shedding any tears over denying this project.
