On one hand...I think it would be great to add more to the skyline.

With the WTC gone...it will help the US stand up and tell those behind the tragedy that they will not be deterred.

The only question I would ask is why THAT location...and is it something that is NEEDED?
With companies all over the US laying people off...do they really need another tower for office space? There's empty office space all over the city...and telecommuting is becoming more popular each day.

Plus...to be an effective "sell", there will need to be nearby transit available. I'm sure there's a subway station near there somewhere...but if the nearest entrance/exit is more than 1 block away...most people will not want to work there.

but its not a government building right? So why does it matter how much it costs or if it will make money (ie not sit empty)

because the second the owners realize they have reduced income or lack of tenants...they'll start begging the city for forgiveness on their property taxes...which will most likely be granted.
