BODIES is coming to Winnipeg

Excuse me but you are so far off the mark that I'm cannot be bothered to comment...other than to say I will never suck at the public trough.

As you know, there are way too many shitty self-described "artists" than have no business calling themselve that. Thorneycroft is one.....hanging dead rabbits on trees and calling it art indeed.

Excuse me then why bother commenting. Thorneycroft's work has nada to do with this exhibit which is not being billed as an art exhibit but rather an educational endeavour. You harp and rant on this for what three days now? I could think of a few things I would love to hang on trees and right now I would do it for free simply for the cathartic relief.

Whatever you say as you seem to enjoy the attack mode today. I see that you have a problem recognizing that there are many ways to express ideas. Art is not limited to paint and canvas. Other folks liked Thorneycroft's work, some like yourself intensely disliked it for whatever reason. I just wonder why you feel compelled to harp on her so bloody much.

I disliked it because it was taxpayer funded.

As far as I can see there is only one person here not playing nice. His venom is very consistent and is getting quite boring. Just because someone chooses to stand up for them self I cannot see how in doing so that could possibly lessen their integrity. That is quite the leap of logic or in his case illogic?

every time I see it I read it as B O O B I E S and I am so disappointed when I realize thats not what it is.

People should also be aware if they go to this they are NOT looking at dead bodies, but rather plastic models that were made using the bodies as a type of mold.

Looking at a picture of a muscle and a description or picture of its action is nothing compared to these displays of what real muscles do in action.

Everybody alive today has benefited from the study of anatomy which has been done for centuries using corpses. I see exhibits like this as enhancing that study and understanding for the new generations.

I do wish it was bodyworlds that was coming though, the issue of the corporation claiming they cannot verify the sources of their bodies and donation status makes me queasy. I don't know why they didn't do like the german guy did and cremate the questionable ones and use donated bodies. Loads of people donate their bodies for scientific purposes such as this every year.

On a side note, anyone here ever read the book "Stiff", about all of what can happen to a body that is donated for "science?

no.. its actual dead bodies preserved in plastic.

Folks are getting all wrapped in the "body" aspect.....this show should be interesting to see.

Yes. We should all boycott this because of David Matas' opinion. Which he can't back up with fact.
