Some of those comments are crazy...

Anyways, shouldn't there of been a public consultation before this went through?

This debate has been going on for what - two years? They've offered up several iterations for this facility now. This is the latest. Will it proceed?

I have but two concerns: 1) they do NOT use their tax advantages to compete with local businesses; and b) they pay their "fees" in lieu of taxes.

well for the most part it is supposed to be "offices".. so other then the gas station supposedly no real competition. IF they follow the original agreement. Thing is, once they get status they can do ( and many have ) whatever they want, even not build what they say there were going to build and go with something else altogether.

But... the delivery spot so that treaty natives can avoid taxes... could be an enormous benefit for Winnipeg businesses. If they set up properly. Thing is, they better get set up 100% properly because once it is on reserve land there is not alot a business can do to get its money back should the people default.

And there is a "reserve" just off the corner of the perimeter and Highway 6 on the way to Warren. I think that is the one owned by Terry Nelson's group.
