There are plenty of community's (composed of many different races and colours) that don't have flood mitigation strategies...so folks DO IT THEMSELVES or, they simply MOVE SOMEPLACE HIGHER!

Have their ancestors not lived there for 1000s of years - they should have some developed some traditional ways to live with the floods by now. In Europe, stone age people built their houses on stilts as long as 8000 years ago if they were in flood prone areas ...

they are blaming the drainage programs for farms south and the white mans road

which are probably true issues that should be dealt with.

I can "sorta" understand limiting it to band members only, sorta... but only those actually living on the reserve? WTF is that?? Shouldn't this be something like the MB homecoming where you are trying to bring everyone home? Or bring more people out to showcase your reserve? After all, aren't we all treaty people?

It sure sounds like one heck of a good time. All the fun things to do and no worries of anyone being drunk or stoned to spoil the fun, heck they even have Charlie Pride there... hmmm mind you he is black and does not live on the reserve so I dont know how he is getting there.

Fellow co-workers who used to live near the reserve said they would get "invitations" all the time to this event...

So, sounds like it's not exclusive as they would like anyone viewing the poster to believe.

Its the first I have heard about an event like this being exclusive. I wonder if this is all because of the crap they have dealt with recently about the legal attempts to remove the current chief?
