Is this really something that we need to apologize for? Was it tragic and horific? Yes, definately. Are we as Canadians responsible for it simply by not invading a country to stop its people from doing something? Is that what the world has become?

FAILURE TO ACT???????? That blame should be squarely placed on the shoulders of the UN and US bureaucracy and secondly on neighbouring, stable, African nations. Our forces were overtaxed at that time operating in the Balkan theatre, Golan Heights, Cyprus and many other smaller pockets where peacekeepers and other assorted personnel like Engineers were desperately needed.

This apology was not necessary as our man on the ground, General Dallaire, did all that he could with a skeleton force and crazy directives.....meanwhile trying to do his job in the midst of mass lunacy!!!

Blame should be placed squarely on the shoulders of the murdering/raping morons who did it.

Yes blame on the Hutu fools who listened to the propaganda on teh local hate radio station and blame on the leaders who used the most horrific means to gain power but we are talking about APOLOGIES here and there is no friggin way our country should be apologizing for lack of action when so many others who could be blamed (the Belgians for initiating fu*ked up racial profiling and the Americans for just not giving a shite because Rwanda had no riches to offer) for not offering up action have already stated that yes, they dropped the ball big time.

We can sometimes be a country of ass-kissers and placaters and I for one will never be in that camp!

Canadians apologize for everything to every one!
Our Prime Minister apologized for Canada trying to eliminate the aboriginals by taking the young children and putting them in schools with mean teachers!

Canada took Northern Inooks and moving them into an area where there was no reindeer, no chance of surviving and they did not survive!
It seems to me, that every country whomever is in charge sends the minorities away to uproot them, take away all their possessions, and have them walk away until they die, or are machetied to death, and no one cares, especially those racists running the U.N.
Who is expected to step in and send aid??

I can totally understand apologizing for doing something. Apologizing to the people who did something, for not stopping them from doing something that is just a little crazy though.


That would be like apologizing to the Germans for not stopping them from killing all the Jewish people when they first started doing it.
