but is it enough?

CBC?? I think was interviewing a whole family of survivors, first the mom went, then it ended up that her six kids all went too.

The one daughter said something like... but was does an apology mean to him? We need help to overcome this, we need programs... etc.

I thought all those programs existed already? How much more can the pope help?

I saw that as well. Most peeps interviewed suggested a thanks was no good. If not more programs I wonder what they want?

I think they want the pope to give them a lifetime supply of something to sniff.

At what point, or after how many generations do you move on and get on with living?

My paternal grandparents came to Canada from Austria-Hungary during WWI. Check the history books and see how they were treated. Many were interned in camps. Many ending up in Winnipeg lived in a shanty town along the CPR tracks (what is now Higgins and Dufferin avenues). My gradfather dies at 28 years of age, leaving my grandmother with 2 sons, both under 5 and pregnant. (My 3rd uncle dies 6 weeks after birth) My parents grew up through the Great Depression and WWII.

Sure the residential schools were a dismal failure, but how long does an entire group of people have to wallow in self pity? Massive amounts of money are being pumped into programs, etc, but is there any sign that the situation is improving?

The problem is that $8 Billion dollars doesn't do the trick, just as the money mayor Sam spends on infrastructure, community centers, red light co-ordination, Assiniboine Park, etc etc. All governments don't spend enough money on anything. It is an amazing pattern of cheapness, that Mayor Sam got while living in the North End! It has spread to every government agency and every program that they support!
