You'd pay everything double...

I remember reading some where that Toronto was toying with the idea of becoming its own Province. That was a few years back. Mind you now that i'm old my memmory is not what it use to be.

The wife tells me that she won't know when i have Alzheimers as she won't know the difference . I just look at her and remind her that I can change bank account and forget where I put it .

Perhaps, but there is a bigger black hole that is sucking the life right out of everyone; and it's called Calgary.

Yea there must a few people antsy over the fall in oil after all the tar sands is one of the more expensive places to produce oil . Meanwhile back to Wpg there seems to be no effort to clean up some of the blight in this city , tear down the old and put up new .
When driving through the northend the real northend CPR to Mountain Ave there are so many houses that are unfit to live in . There needs to be a tax incentive to tear down and rebuild this old housing stock and not all public housing . Also tax breaks for new Apartment blocks as there is a shortage of those also . This would cost very little compared to public housing which is abused and really not needed .

Some places in the northend, you would see the new houses trashed in a couple of months, if that long.

Some people are no better than animals Jim...and that's unfortunately the truth.

Not the north end! Stop that. Oh, did ya see the crime reported as in the north end yesterday. The papers never get that right. It is a conspiracy I tell ya. Stop saying such evil things. The north end has improved significantly. The south end has just as much violence as the north end. You are evil.

You should have seen the MB housing complex at Fife and Mapleglen. They just finished some cosmetic updates to the complex but it looked like a frigging shanty town 6 months ago. Garbage all over the place, broken windows, stolen cars and cops busting people all the time. young young kids roaming around at midnight. It was horrible and still is.

Manitoba Housing is in the process of many upgrades to most if not all of their properties.

For the record
Part of the fun living in Manitoba housing growing up was the kids roaming around at all hours. But that was many years ago, when people still had respect.

The old folk in the neighborhood actually got worried when they didn't see some of the usual kids running in and out of their yards playing hide and seek.
Now the kids play push... and steal...
and... destroy... and pin the baseball bat on the kiddie.

Something I learned recently about MHA is that they segregate tenants.

If you go from one housing facility to another, one might be old folks, one might be young families, one might be single moms, one might be druggies & alcoholics.

The seniors' buildings usually have the highest security and nicest buildings, though the units are usually much smaller.

The small families usually get the houses or row-homes.

The box-houses or block apartments usually go to everyone else.

I guess MHA doesn't believe in the first-come/first-serve policy either. If they did, there would be a big mix all over the place.
