Where are they going to move to GOM?

We moved them off Main Street and they came to Portage Avenue.

I've always thought that Transcona would make a great place for a controlled slum with all the sleazy bars....Smile

I don't know. But they've no business making so many people feel uncomfortable in our downtown. This city is for everybody but if most Winnipeggers and our visitors dread being downtown in the evening they deprive many.

And yeah, Transcona is as good a place as any...

Not being one of those guys that wants to keep dragging up old threads as that job belongs to others, yesterdays paper covers the idea of closed circuit video surveillance in certain areas. Those certain areas include Central Park, the Centennial Library and the Air Canada Park. So maybe Gail Asper is not the only one who thinks there are problems downtown.

It wasn't the downtown she was pissed about, it was the area between the airport and downtown.

But it is nice to see she's right on the ball and has come to understand the problems we face with our downtown....it seems to have finally reached her in her tower...20 years late...but nevertheless it finally reached her.

JTF, it was her brother that was pissed about the drive from the airport to downtown, she related a story about a couple of guys that came into town to give money for the CHRM and tried to find a place for supper on Portage Avenue. Nonetheless, I think she was right. Downtown really needs to be cleaned up.

And for even remotely referring tothe CHRM in a thread where JTF is actively posting, I sincerely apologize. Wink

Heh...my mistake...but she's still 20 years behind in her views of DT, imo anyway.

What other revelation will she come up with...that we have cold winters and we need heated bus shelters? Smile

Hey, she problably walks from her house to the heated garage, steps into her chaufer-driven limo, gets out in the heated parkade and takes the private elevator up to her office.

I wonder who the "idiot" at their hotel sent them downtown to wander on Portage Avenue for a restaurant?
That person should be shot!!!!!
Probably was just transferred in from Plum Coulee?
I do not know of any restaurants that are still on Portage other than the Chocolat shop! lol
Hy's at Portage and Main would have been an excellent recommendation!
Where else??
Wpg has a lot of great restaurants, but on Portage Avenue?

Maybe people on social assisstance could be set up with some sort of bracelet that will shock them if they go into the downtown area?
The same with gang members!
That would clean up that mess!

Does Winnipeg have an unusually high number of welfare, social assisstance as compared to other province's?? Any numbers on that anywhere??

Winnipeg is not a province.

Could you imagine living in a province in a province?
