Bottom line is the driver made a mistake and tried to correct it with another mistake... every choice after that is irrelevant, really...
No no no. Right bottom line. Ever heard the expression "the customer is always right". If they asked to get off the bus, that was by their own accord. They are just as much to blame as the driver and Greyhound. Quite making excuses for them because they are indian.

death128 wrote:lol They were forced to make a choice of getting off and trying to catch their own ride for the last half hour (which they did) and staying on the bus (which some others did).
Either choice that they made were as a result of the bus driver turning the bus around which would have led to and extra 3.5 hours of travel.

How were they forced? They asked to get off the bus, the driver let them off. Why are they not held accountable for their own decisions? I am so sick and tired of that fricken race card being played, get over it already. Sheesh!

He had to make a decision - turn around or proceed. Greyhound must have a policy that they leave nobody behind, in error. So the announcement should have been made - we're tunring around and the trip will now be longer. If for some reason you (passenger/s) do not accept, then there is only one option - step off. Logic would dictate that you don't inconvenience 17 people for the sake of two but let's leave that aside. The issue becomes whether the people were kicked off or chose to get off. If they chose to get off then they can't declare themselves to be victims. We need a travelling court of common sense in this country that would hear the sides and then slam a gavel down in 15 minutes. Without that - we end up down the same road all the time - racism, hate crimes, discrimination, etc etc.

The people on the bus made a choice. Stay or go. Some people made one choice and some people made another choice.
I'll make a law stating that I'll lock you up for 3.5 hours. You can either obey or be dropped off 0.5 hours out of the city. Make your choice right now. Some will choose one, some will choose the other. Either way it's my fault for making a stupid-ass law that won't hold up in any court.

Well, I guess it has to be determined if it was the driver or the Greyhound official that "ordered" him back.
But the last paragraph is one of the weakest arguments I have ever heard. there was no "law" in place. This sounds like a decsion made by people with free will, but with all things "racist", the blame must be firmly placed on someone else, preferably someone white. If you don't believe me, just ask the Chiefs.

What? They chose for luck and they were accommodated. The driver chose to turn the bus around and he will be held accountable for HIS actions as this was HIS ship.
The others were forced to make a choice of having another 3.5 hours of travel time or getting off and hoping for a ride instead of wasting 3.5 hours of their time.
Please remember that they PAID for the service as well and expected a reasonable time frame for them to get home.
All the complaints are is that this type of negative service happens to Aboriginals more often than non-aboriginals in their eyes.

Have you ever been on a plane? I have many many times and I have experienced delays galore, I have even been stranded overnight in Toronto due to weather. I PAID for my flights. I have had plenty of negative service over the years is it because I look white and am a woman?
They asked to get off the bus....end of story! Stupid is as stupid does. Tell me death128 aren't you yourself getting sick and tired of the constant claims of racism, when clearly none existed?
How many on that bus paid for their own ticket? From what I've read and saw on the news, most of the ones who elected to get off the bus didn't pay for the ticket, the taxpayer did.
