There is an irony to the appointments Harper has made that is not lost even on some of Harper's own advisers and supporters. As a young Reform party organizer and MP, Harper campaigned vigourously to make the Senate more independent of the prime minister. And yet, to create the Senate he wants, Harper now needs a Senate that will do precisely what he wants.

I dont see the downside to this at all! Harper our current bold leader is moving forward on his plan to have senate reform.

lol...heh...and make sure you don't tell him that every Senator appointed by Harper agreed to term limits and elections for senators. That would make him write another dull book.

And we,le see how many live up to it quit that is , once their in their in . Mind you they will probably get some other plum job to make up for it if they do. After all they did not give all that money over the years for nothing the senate should be abolished , no if ands or buts .
