I think these "cheap people" are following the lead of some businesses.
Some businesses think Canadian people are "too expensive" so the jobs have been pushed out of the country where they can be done cheaper.
And then they wonder why the country is in a recession.

If I was starting over today, I would go into something where the job can't be pushed off shore. Example: hairdressing, nursing, etc. Surprised

This is not unique to Canada. Hell now some third world countries are sending jobs elsewhere due to rising labour costs... Ironic as hell eh?

Canada is not in a recession due to the practise of off-shoring jobs. Canada is in a recession because the whole world is right-sizing their economies after too many years of super-heated consumerism.

Canada is in a recession due to the unions.

IMHO Canada is in a recession due to GREED.

The whole world is in a recession. Canada has emerged rather unscathed, especially when compared to other first world economies. Maybe we are the least greedy country on earth?

That's what happens in the Oilpatch. It seems almost 1/3 of the workers who are making the big bucks tend to blow their money on women, drugs, and partying. Not the life for the thin skinned.

That's like saying that people live because they breathe. It's one of the reason the crap hit the fan, but not the only reason.

And the major reason that we didn't get hit like other countries is because of our stricter regulations.

It also happens in the Maples as our combined income is over $100,000, but we tend to blow our money of post secondary education for 4 kids and trying to feed 3 nineteen year olds.
