WTF!!!!!???
http://www.winnipegsun.com/news/winnipeg/2009/12/11/12119006-sun.html

Winnipeg South MP Rod Bruinooge says he's disgusted with Liberal amendments made by the Senate to exclude aboriginal offenders from a bill that established mandatory minimum sentences for drug offences.
Bill C-15 had proposed a person found guilty of trafficking who had previously been convicted of a drug-related offence within the prior decade would receive a minimum prison sentence of one year while someone with a prior record who was convicted of growing five or more marijuana plants would receive six months of mandatory jail time.
Liberal senators, aided by four independents, passed an amendment Wednesday upping the pot plant number to 200 while handing judges discretion at applying the mandatory minimum to aboriginal offenders. The mandatory minimum prison terms would also now only be handed out if offenders were previously sentenced to a year or more in jail.

One more reason to abolish the senate. WTF were THEY smoking?

This amazes me but does not surprise me. We keep empowering Canada's natives. Each time an Indian gets a special judicial dispensation we send a very clear message to that entire population that they can do, and get away with, anything they want.

Is it any wonder their problems continue to escalate?

I hope that there's a showdown with the fcuken Liberals over this.

This would be a great reason to fight an election over methinks. Smile

...and a reason to abolish/fix the Senate too btw.

What a joke. Maybe I should lobby the senate to exclude Canadians with Western European background. Laughing

NO one should be better or worse in the eyes of the law and most of the Liberal senators are not smoking, their senile .

What scares the hell out of me is the fact that these jerjoffs believe that what they're doing is correct and proper. They're convinced that what they peopose is the answer to our violent mess.

With this kind of handout/back-turning mentality by gov't, is it any wonder the natives are in the situation they are in now? This just goes to show that reform needs to happen on a multitude of levels. This is just pathetic and will continue to put the general public at risk.

I don't think anyone should go to gaol for growing pot.
I don't think anyone should go to gaol for selling pot.
I guess if more cops, judges and gaols are good for the economy we gotta go for the ride.
I may make six months in gaol part of my retirement plan.
Do they have the internnet there?

Agreed
I would not mind an election over this. All Canadians should be equal.

I'm actually a bit surprised by this. Not they dropped mandatory sentences, but that they only did it for one group of people.

they probably did it, trying to destroy the legislation.

With the Liberals touting our great socialized health care system, you'd think that the Senate would make use of it and have the surgery to get their heads out of their asses.

It's not "they"...it's Charlie Watt...the idiot Liberal Senator from Quebec.

The amendment recognizes that aboriginal offenders don't have the same access to drug courts and drug treatment programs.

That's a crock of sh it.

I hear the liberal senate is going to make another amendment. they will add that people named Roger can not be held criminally responsible for any of their actions and are above the law.

The Government will take all people in Canada named Roger and turn them into Crime fighting Death squads.
