Another Winnipeg Baby Attacked, Possibly Stabbed by Parents

How can anyone even think of harming a child. This is I believe the the third child in two weeks that has been attacked, it's getting crazy,

Bizarro world out there in the projects eh? There's a few threads and likely a few hundred posts here about what kind of parents are bringing children into this world today.

Perhaps there should be a double penalty when people hurt those that simply cannot defend themselves. But not in our justice system.

In this case a healing circle and maybe a couple months with an ankle bracelet will be the sentence.

Alcohol and piss poor parenting are to blame. People don't set out to hurt children.

Five minutes alone with these people...that's all I ask.

Of course CBC has this story closed to comments.....the male assailant, the so-called father, was in breach of his recognizance and had been ordered to stay away from the mother of the child. She had tried to get a restraining order but had been denied one.....chances are she had had restraining orders against him in the past but had allowed him back into her life. Do that one time too often and it becomes a case of the boy who cried wolf and that application will be denied. In this case who suffers? The child.

Why some folks are allowed to reproduce is beyond me......I am getting so tired of reading up about violence against children, violence and decay in government housing GHETTOS and tired of reading that the latest perpetrators/victims are First Nations folks.....so I say again for posterity sake.....CHIEFS, WHERE THE FRIG ARE YOU ON THESE TRAGIC EVENTS????

I was pondering Miz P's question as to why some folks are allowed to reproduce and I think I came up with a solution. Why not, before they reach child bearing ages not, take these young kids away from the environment that they are in, educate, stabilize, develop discipline and allow them to become productive members of society......oh, wait a minute, wasn't that tried once already?

I think *most* people start out not wanting to hurt a child. Unfortunately, the pressures of life and work and everything else tend to bend a good parent bad. I fully support getting the child out of the bad situation, but instead of punishing the parent(s), they should go where they would get help dealing with the pressures of modern day life.

IF they'll go for that help/ IF they'll absorb anything. IF they don't immediately revert to old habits.

Take away the children. Throw the parents into "rehab". Immediately take away all social funding.

Relapse just once and cut them off entirely.

What pressure could these people possibly have? They are known heavy drinkers, he is 23 and she is 29.

Obviously this guy doesn't understand English or Canadian Law. He has a restraining order against him. Apparently the woman was having a major drinking party too.

Drinking.....more parties......the vicious cycle continues and it is all taxpayer funded. I am sick of hearing stories like this. And pray tell what are their excuses going to be? One can hazard several tried and true guesses.

All the people who move to Winnipeg from the reservations can move back and live in the tribal system like their ancestors did. People will receive a ton of attention for whining/ fighting for their rights, a couple of years from now.

And now the woman who died today after being assaulted, had been shoplifting. Why is it the press decided to let her mother and siblings plant the poison pill WITHOUT PROOF that someone who worked at the store conducted vigilante violence? Geraldine Beardy was one of Faron Hall's drinking buddies and was at the river the day he did not successfully fish out the one person. Ms. Beardy is a 29 year old mother of three. Why is it that birth control options are not given to those who are poor or unable to parent the children they already have?

As has been cynically stated by many and it is true unfortunately.....making babies is the one thing the poor can do quite well. To those of us who would advocate a re-examination of reproductive rights we are accused of genocide. Well, genocide against whom? Seems to me that the children are the ones who are suffering here and not their womb/sperm providers.

Tommy Douglas was all for sterilization back in his day. I wonder of the Left wing nutbars have erased that from Canadian History yet...
