BUT WAIT!!!!!
Since the city does not consider an assessed value increase as a tax increase. And since EVERYONE's assessment rose substanially is the city really saying that with all that extra money from increased assessment they still cant meet the budget target?

Seems like it yes. Some how much more do you think you will be paying this year? Percentage wise, and include the change from last year even though it was a different assessed value then.

My guess... for my house... 7.2%

Yes.

Katz is out-to-lunch on this. He's going the wrong way imho. He should be lowering taxes, not raising them.

If raising taxes is the only way he can think of to balance the budget, the job is clearly too big for him.

I read yesterday that the city anticipates a $6 million increase in property taxes, this year I believe. That does not sound like a huge increase to me.

The city has some ways to generate more cash , get more of the money off every ticket written by the Wpg police for provincial offences speeding and the like .

If you all would be so kind, please watch this video. It is American
but, it shows some stuff that Myself and a great deal of people in this
world seem to have forgotten.
