Some friends and family are coming out from Ontario with the truck and fifth wheel to visit in 2 weeks. Anyone have a recommendation for a good campsite they can stay at while they are out here? Preferably within 30 minutes of the city?

If they want to be close to the city and are not wanting a lake at the campsite, there is always the KOA on Murdoch Road next to Fun Mountain. Or there is Lilac which is east on #1 which has sites for the travelling camper.

There's also a trailer park on Main Street, north of the Peguis Bridge.

A friend of mine said her friends stayed there with their fifth-wheel trailer.

Ages is correct, it is right beside Shooters Golf Centre. Front portion is for travellers and the back section is a trailer/mobile home park. I forgot about this one, even though I see it at least 2x a week from the driving range.

Back in 1978, my dad (who was moonlighting: delivering for Angelo's Pizza) accidentally drove through the front office in our Honda Civic... so we're well acquainted with the place!

I was going to say that... there is a plethora of large campers littering the streets and driveways around here.

do they camp in their driveways? or just park?

if i owned one, and had the room, i'd park mine on my property too...but i wouldn't go out and camp in it...as it needs power, water, & sewage hooked up....thus the reason for needing a campground.

We used to go camping out near Portage la Prairie...used to be called Millers Campground...

It may have changed a little, but it was nice a few years ago.

they camp in it
one of them even installed an illegal ( ie no city permit ) electical hookup for his.

They leave every once in a while/.. I am presuming to go to an actual park and perhaps dump the sewage.

If the fifth-wheelers are visiting someone, then they don't need water and sewer hookup. or electricity, really, if they are just using it to sleep in.

I should put them on the street infront of my condo! Just run a hose, 120v extension cord and put the sewage dump right over top the storm drain! Problem solved!

Hah going to look at the site up on Main tonight, as well as Conestoga down on st. Annes see what its like.

If its the one google maps just gave me, it might be a bit too far outside the city. Does look nice from the website tho.

It's a nice place to vist, but it's also popular, so it's cramped. If you like that sorta thing, hey, why not!
