If what is being reported is factual, good on the mom for being there for her child. I hope she also has named the family of the "bully" in her lawsuit as well. They are just as responsible for his actions as the school is for the non-action.

"Most of the time, parents and school divisions try to sort these things out internally.""

I wonder how many times there have been cases of permanent brain damage where some one sorted things out internally?

sheesh what a crappy response trying to blame the mother for not just walking away.

WTF...there was an teaching assistant there at the time!!!

A few asses should be kicked out of the 'profession' imo.

yeah but was the EA/TA tied up helping a "different" student? Often thats the only reason they are in the room and often they need to be 100% focused on that student. But they still could have dealt with this I would think.

The Public Schools Act provides that school divisions are to provide a safe and caring envornment for students. I guess someone didn't do their job that day. i wonder if they got paid anyway?

In all fairness isn't it possible some stuff is just not caught? Just look at the trouble your kids can get into when you are "keeping and eye on them".

Kids are very clever. They know how to push the envelope.

Yes some stuff is not caught.. no doubt

But if the mothers story is true definately something was not done properly

If what she said actually happened someone should be fired. To actually pick someone up and drop them on his head and NOT do anything? How could the EA miss that?

And with a classroom of 30 kids present how is it the principal not know what actually happened?

Something stinks here. Not sure if the mom's story passes the smell test.

It could have missed the principal easily, or, the principal sluffed it off at the time....

This is the really scarey part

"They did not call me, or an ambulance. He needed help with walking, his legs were really weak," she said.
Bryan was in hospital for two days, his mother said."

That is rather worrysome - a severe head injury can go relatively undiagnosed until it's too late. Look what happened to Natasha Richardson...

I'd wait to hear the whole thing before making too much of a judgement. Definitely sounds bad from one side but the way it's described could mean a few different things. 'Picked up and dropped on his head' can mean anything from going to pick him up and him falling backwards and hitting his head, to picking him up, flipping him over, and dropping him intentionally on his head. And 'grabbed him twice' could mean he agressively grabbed him, or tugged his shirt or something. With the end result it's easy to assume the kid was being attacked multiple times with no one doing anything about it, but that's not necessarily the case. There definitely needs to be more education on head injuries for teachers and teaching assistants. And really the public in general. Sometimes it doesn't take much of an impact and the effects can seem minor at first but could case serious damage later.
