Yes, it's true...if you mention you heard the ad on CJOB, they will reduce your $30 fee by 25%. That's a saving of $7.50!
The course was packed liked I have never seen before. I thought they were having a tournament, when in fact, people were just coming out of the woodwork to golf in the sunshine.
It was hot. We were a two-some this week, so they hooked us up with another two-some. These two ladies were a lot of fun.
Some of the holes are wide open, so you can swing away and not have to worry much about losing your ball. Other holes are quite narrow, and shrink your chances of landing in the fairway. I hit a 300 yard drive with an old Titleist Pro V 1x. I found a newish Callaway HX Tour iX and blasted it quite far. It doesn't feel like a distance ball and is in fact, the same ball Phil Mickelson uses. The majority of PGA pros play the Titleist Pro V or Pro V 1x. These balls go for something $60 a dozen but they are as good as they get. Ditto for the elite Nike, Srixon and Bridgestone balls.
The greens weren't lightning fast and many of them had ball marks that previous golfers failed to repair.
Due also to its proximity to my neck of the woods, River Oaks is also the course that I tend to play the most, 3-4 times a year. The mosquitoes came out but they stayed away after I sprayed on bug spray.
