Two of his employees crossed illegally into North Korea, since he is the boss of the company and should have been aware of what was going on. He should stand up and say. I take responsibility for their actions. Please free them and put me in jail.

My feelings are that we should cut them loose. They've become bargaining chips through their actions and should pay the price. frick em. They knew the chance they were taking and should live by their decision.

Two dumbass American journalists, named Lee and another Asian name, are lucky to not be put to death. Others have been charged with being spies! A death penalty case.
These 2 bimboes were up to no good, being in the country illegally!

THRY HAD IT COMING!!!

Al Gore should go to SCHOOL for 10 years in THE NORTH END.
(maybe that should have been the title of this thread...).

I bet they end up writing a book, since they will be among the most knowledgeable westerners who were incarcerated in NK.

These two ladies, and possibly Gore himself, have undermined the position that the U.S. has taken. Mental Li wants to negotiate directly with the States, which they won't do, and this gives him the opportunity to do so.

"The two were reporting about the trafficking of women at the time of
their arrest, and it's unclear if they strayed into the North or were
grabbed by aggressive border guards who crossed into China."

Yup, sounds like it was Al's fault alright!

Al's fault they were arrested for sure. He sent them there. Yeah the crime that is being committed is the real fault. But given the strife in the area and the potential for this happening, Al knew damn well what might happen, heck the way they play games in the States sometimes they probably fully expected this to happen.

I hate American reporters. Look at the spin they put on it- they may have been arrested by aggressive North Koreans who MAY have invaded China to get them! Yea sure!!
Why would anyone believe anything in the papers, on the radio or on TV news??
They got 12 years , the maximum, for being in North Korea without a visa! They took their chance, let them stay in jail for 12 years! it is a reasonable time. They can do an expose on jailhouse conditions in North Korea!

Who knows...they may have sacrificed themselves to get attention or allowed themselves to become pawns in the political game being played with Mental Li.

You can't be anywhere near that border without knowing exactly where the border is. Those borders are like no other in the world....very heavily guarded.

Sounds like Mr. Gore could be on his way to NK shortly....

"President Obama is considering sending former Vice President Al Gore to
North Korea to negotiate the release of two American journalists from
Current TV, Reuters reports."

His actions regarding what?

If the Americans are going to deal directly with North Korea, you'd think they'd at least use a third party type person....certainly not the person that employs the women involved.

regarding sending these women into such a hostile zone.

of course it is all sounding like an elaborate set up to force NK to capture these two people, thus the USA saves face and can talk with them directly again.

The United States doesn't want to directly engage Mental Li. There lies the problem.

At this point they are trying to seperate the issues of the nukes and the ladies. The Nut Case wants to combine them for negotiations to get money from the Americans. That's my read anyway.

They should make it look like Chinese secret agents killed him.

....your serious Deank?

Wow......just wow...

So yeah, damn right, he should take responsibility for co-founding a media company....that bastard! How dare people found things, and then step away and allow them to be run by others!

And yeah, I'm sure you feel the same way about other media companies sending journalists into dangerous places to report on dangerous things. Damn them all!

""Essentially, it's a whole package of
brinksmanship," he said. "They want to say to the Obama administration
'take us seriously and, in turn, we'll resolve this issue for you.'"
North
Korea wants to be recognized as a legitimate nuclear state, but
Washington has so far refused to endorse such a status for the
unpredictable nation, which has a history of terrorism, ripping up
agreements and sharing its nuclear know-how with nations hostile to
America."

Damn that Al Gore....founding....things! [leave the "internets" outta this!]
