The TSX has dropped 43% in value this year. Man is that like taking one in the nads eh?

I moved my entire portfolio out of mutual funds late last year and for that reason alone my savings avoided that colossal kind of loss. Not that I've escaped losses, just escaped that kind of loss.

How are you doing? What is working for you. What scares you?

whatever we had invested in the stock market, dh took out and it's just sitting as cash until he decides to buy and get some good deals. he subscribes to an investment thingy called Zacks and about 6 mths ago it wasn't coming up with any good hits and about 4mths dh converted everything to cash.

My adviser said to do the same thing WITH CASH. He did not advise converting to cash, just sit on any cash you have. So, I guess dh (???) is doing the right thing.

Dollar HAS tanked. If you bought American dollars when our dollar was near $1.10 last year, and sold today @ $0.85, you'll have netted a tidy profit of almost 18% in less than a year.

Better to have drugs and no money than to have money and no drugs....?? I still have my real estate and am wondering what the Winnipeg market will do over the next year. Anyone have predictions?

Flatten. At least that is what I'm banking on... I don't think it'll retract at least. It will be a buyer's market very soon.

I lost a bunch so far. My solution was to stop looking at my statements, curl up into a ball and cry until it passes... very much like many 'firsts' in my life....

I'll take the lottery jackpot any day...
No 6 tonight either. Tonight's jackpot was CAD$ 146,800,000.
Paris Hilton even played about 500 sheets through her agents.
Peeps from Slovenia and Croatia are coming here just to play the lottery.
Next numbers come out Tuesday. Should be around CAD$ 152 million. ALOT!

BIG 3.9% gain at the TSX yesterday. If you held gold and oil you might have done especially well. Will the market take it all back today?

Since I am not even 30... worrying about my portfolio too much is a pointless measure since it is at least another 25+ years before I need to rely on it.

For now I will continue to enjoy the buying opportunities.

Fair enough. However with a long term hold, well managed equity or resource based mutuals are a decent buy.

Wow. The TSX has had a remarkable run this week. Any idea why?
