11:50 A.M., 19* C, sunny, smoking a cigar , Cheapie, in my gazeebo, drinking my 4th huge cup of coffe with 10% cream, wife back in town after a 4 day vacation, TV blaring, neighbours cutting their lawn,

Yes sir, a fine weekend indeed!

I'm writing this on my front steps, using the old Thinkpad DeanK gave
me, while drinking coffee and watching two of my three cats frolic on
the front lawn.

Yup. Pentium 150MMX, 80Mb RAM (maximum), 2Gb HD. Battery still
holds an hour's charge. Runs Mandriva Linux (using Fluxbox) like
a champ, works with my wifi card and external antenna. Gonna
convert it to use Compact Flash cards instead of the IDE hard drive, to
save battery life.

I had it outside with me today, listening to internet radio while I weeded my garden and patio!

What's so geeky about that? Doesn't everyone do those same things to save older abandoned hardware? Sad
