TORONTO - A remote First Nations community in northern Ontario is preparing to evacuate about 700 children over fears that harmful fuel fumes are making them ill, an aboriginal leader said Thursday.

Plans are underway to airlift the children out of Attawapiskat First Nation near James Bay this month, even though it could cost millions of dollars, said Grand Chief Stan Louttit.

Suppose they're headed for a downtown Winnipeg hotel? Suppose the Canadian taxpayer will be on the hook for this evacuation as well?

Now in all fairness I too get sick when smelling diesel fumes.

Man. You can't please everybody eh. Many communities would love to have all that free gas to sniff.

Apparently, the tests showed nothing was out of hand. Independant testers were offered but turned down it seems, so I reckon there's another agenda at play here.

I'll bet the chief offered everyone a free trip if he got elected and now he's gotta' make good on the promise.

I'll do up a quick proposal for a Phase I/Phase II Environmental site assessment. Once these are complete and the area of contamination has been delineated, we can get going on a Phase III remedial plan to remove the contaminents from the site.

It's likely all to be government funded I guess lol!
