Its her contention that everyone in Canada should jump at the chance to have dinner with the leaders of Canada's political parties, just because they are leaders.

You left one off the poll Dean.

Having dinner with those you may not agree with can prove just as useful as being with those you do.

Imagine having dinner with the head of the "Green" party and being able to discuss the various topics they platform on. Especially while devouring a big thick juicy steak, and wine imported from Australia.

I think if the dinner included the opportunity (or especially the requirement) for discussion/debate...it would be quite beneficial. Find out their ideas/strategies and help formulate yours. Perhaps even to present arguments which shatter their standards/beliefs.

Agreeing with someone or not has nothing at all to do with respecting them or legitimizing them.

I for one would never have dinner with Pol Pot, Nixon or Elizabeth May. Perhaps with Harper, maybe with Layton but definately not Iggie, at least not as he is right now.

I would like to have dinner with him to urge him to step down and get out of politics since he has no real clue what he is doing so I dont think he would be able to implement your strategy GOm.

Dinner with Ignatieff would be fun (not). First he would have to order for you, because you're too dumb to know whats good and what isn't, then he'd tell you how much better what he ordered is as compared to yours.

You could share vacation stories. You could tell him about your vacation to the States and he could tell you about his vacation in Canada.
