I hope you have a good time. I am not a fan of new Metallica. When Lars started with the Napster issue he pissed me off and I think his attitude sucks, he must suffer from little man syndrome.

I'm sure Lars sleeps well at night, even with this little man syndrome. This is his GF, actress Connie Nielsen (now 44.)

LOL, i should hope a guy with his money could get a fancy piece of arm candy. Otherwise Lars would truly be pathetic.

If you had hundreds of millions, i'm sure you would have a plastic bimbo on your arm too.

I think the point is she wouldn't be with creepy Lars if he wasn't in a rockband. If he was just joe blow she wouldn't give him the time of day!

What attracted Shannon Tweed to Gene Simmons, who IMHO has even less talent and looks?

Why such hate for Lars? He's a great drummer, maybe a bit of a douche but his drumming is solid!

I don't hate him I dislike him and can think of many other drummers who are far more talented. I was a fan of Metallica in the early 80's but they became lame and radio friendly so I stopped being a fan.

They haven't made a decent album since the late 80s. They and Def Leppard are so guilty of resting on their laurels and coasting on the strength of material that is over 20 years old!

This might be the last time I see them. I've been listening to some their recent concerts, which are easy enough to find, and the setlist is necessarily full of songs that I don't care for.

He's definitely not a *remarkable* drummer. Nothing special.

I still can't believe that Def Leppard are still touring. I am pumped for the Drop Kick Murphys show. Hey Trini are you going to see Flogging Molly?

Indeed, I am supposed to go see Flogging Molly. I'm also going to see Amy Millan and quite possibly, Mahogany Frog, this month.

Their lead singer used to be in Fastway, the rock group formed by Fast Eddie Clarke, former lead guitarist with Motorhead.

Death Magnetic has been praised by fans as well as critics as a comeback for Metallica after the widely panned St. Anger. Thrash Hits was one of the first websites, along with The Quietus to comment on Death Magnetic,[46] suggesting "it is a vast improvement on 2003 album St Anger." Metal Hammer has noted on Death Magnetic's
"sharp riffs" and "uncharacteristic bouncing grooves," and compares the
band's sound throughout these six tracks to other bands including Slayer, Led Zeppelin and even Rage Against the Machine.[47] Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy has praised the album as well saying "Death Magnetic is hands down the best Metallica album in 20 years. This is the CD I've been waiting for them to make since …And Justice for All. And thumbs up to them for doing the first real Metallica instrumental in 20 years since 'To Live Is to Die'. Welcome back, boys.

That was from Wikipedia.

You guys don't like it but everyone else does! I find that people think it's hip or trendy to say things like "they were cool before they got famous" or " I liked them before everyone else"

Music Snobs!!

An especially irritating breed of tool, the music snob is a self
described authority on what is or is not "good" music. The genre is
irrelavant, as music snobs somehow confuse their subjective opinions
with objective concrete facts across all genres of music. The music
snob is quick to write off your taste in music, and often spout proudly
a large number of "better" unknown and/or less "commercial" bands that
if you had as good of taste as they did, you would already know about
and love. The music snob can be found at low budget local record
stores, probably arguing with a clerk about how no good bands cds are
for sale. The music snob often prides themselves on their, again, self
described "non-conformist" interests, and everyone else is merely a
braindead product of MTV. The music snob fails to realize the
definition of the word opinion: 1. a belief or judgment that rests on
grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.

LOL...it's called an opinion Bartron. Get over it! LMFAO. I like what I like, Metallica isn't a band I would pay to see. I didn't go see AC/DC either, I saw them in 1986 and once was plenty. I saw Metallica at the old arena and that was enough. Sheesh relax. LOL

LOL...I love all kinds of music. I am a music lover, love to check out live bands but I am no music snob. My dislike of Lars and his band is simply because they pretty much suck now, the first 3 albums were by far the best. That is called an opinion not being a snob.

Death Magnetic is the best thing they've done in 20 years, but it still sounds like a re-hash of old riffs to me. I don't listen to it, but I did buy it to give it a chance.

I'm looking forward to the show. They are just as you have described.

But let me tell ya....you might have really, really enjoyed one of the greatest live bands that I've ever seen, when they were here a little while ago - Gogol Bordello. I went without owning any of their CDs (I have 2 now) and not being familiar with their material. They played to 300 people at the WECC a few years ago, a show that I heard was great but didn't take in. I wasn't going to miss them. Words can barely describe how all-out entertaining they were. Less than halfway through the show, you'd think they were playing their last song, like there was no tomorrow! Of course, you can catch them on youtube and draw your own conclusions. I imagine the Dropkick Murphys will also put on a ass-kickingly great show!

I enjoyed the first opening band, France's Gojira. Their music had atmospheric elements to it, either intentionally, or due to the nature of their sound check, but it was a little different from run-of-the-mill thrash metal.

Lamb of God sounded better and had fans singing along to some of their tunes. Vocals were of the Cookie Monster variety - largely incoherent to me.

I thought Metallica put on a pretty decent show. The songs were mostly distinctive and memorable. They left out some classic numbers, but that is to be expected. Very good sound. Lots of gas flash pots or whatever they are called. Had someone stood in the wrong position, they would have been burned to a crisp. Impressive lasers lead into the first song.

Every thrash metal band is faster and heavier than Metallica, but these guys give you variety with their music. Several songs had light, acoustic parts. They didn't go for cheap thrills by playing exclusively blazzingly fast tunes.

My friend and I were on the floor, and the stage was in the centre, rather than being at one end. We were about three persons deep away from the stage and had an excellent view. I opted to bail and stand about ten feet further back when this idiotic thug bounced his way to my side and became involved with some really intense pushing and shoving. My friend stood his ground and gave back as good as he received from the moshing idiots, but I was couldn't be bothered to fight just to be able to stand that close.

Overall, I had a sense of feeling almost indifferent, despite the strong show they put on. There's nothing like seeing a good band for the first time. Sometimes, seeing them again and again fails to elicit the excitement of seeing them for the first time. I can really understand why some people aren't into seeing bands that they like, much more than once.

Every show gets recorded and pretty soon, those of you who wish can download the Winnipeg show utilizing bit torrent.

I might see them again, but I think I would content to not do so.
