I wouldn't describe their sound over the last 20-something years as being "commercial," with the exception of the black album. They have been struggling for years to write material that matches their old stuff.Goth_chic wrote:Metallica sucks now. They were great in the 80's before they became too commercial.

Radio plays them inspite of the crappy tunes that they've recorded over the past 20 years. They play them simply because they are a popular group. I was at the Pantages Show, with openers Metal Church, and at the '88 show. I wasn't too keen on And Justice For All and pretty much everything after that. What a crappy drum sound they have on And Justice!Goth_chic wrote:Triniman wrote:I wouldn't describe their sound over the last 20-something years as being "commercia," with the exception of the black album. And still they can't write anything that comes close to Ride the Lightening, Master of Puppets etc.
I would totally describe their sound as commercial. Anything that gets played on the radio to me is commercial. Back when Metallica first came out, they had zero radio play yet they managed to sell albums and pack rooms. My hubby saw them at the Pantages Playhouse back in the early 80's. I saw them at the old arena in 88 or so. I was a HUGE Metallica fan until the Black album, after that they just went down hill.
Plus Lars is a tool. I cannot stand that "little dude". He totally suffers from little man syndrome.
