They seem to be out of business though.

No contests or tickets available for Winnipeg...EXCEPT Nickelcrack...which I wouldn't go see if I was paid...let alone for free.

I would go see as long as I was given a free chance to judo chop the singer in the throat a couple of times to see if it would make him sing different even once (and some Judo lessons I guess)

Metallica sucks now. They were great in the 80's before they became too commercial.

I'm going for sure, last time I went they played mostly old stuff anyway and it was a great show.

I wouldn't describe their sound over the last 20-something years as being "commercial," with the exception of the black album. They have been struggling for years to write material that matches their old stuff.

I wouldn't describe their sound over the last 20-something years as being "commercia," with the exception of the black album. They have been struggling for years to write material that matches their old stuff.

And still they can't write anything that comes close to Ride the Lightening, Master of Puppets etc.

I would totally describe their sound as commercial. Anything that gets played on the radio to me is commercial. Back when Metallica first came out, they had zero radio play yet they managed to sell albums and pack rooms. My hubby saw them at the Pantages Playhouse back in the early 80's. I saw them at the old arena in 88 or so. I was a HUGE Metallica fan until the Black album, after that they just went down hill.

Plus Lars is a tool. I cannot stand that "little dude". He totally suffers from little man syndrome.

Radio plays them inspite of the crappy tunes that they've recorded over the past 20 years. They play them simply because they are a popular group. I was at the Pantages Show, with openers Metal Church, and at the '88 show. I wasn't too keen on And Justice For All and pretty much everything after that. What a crappy drum sound they have on And Justice!
The Black album is commerical sounding. Everything else since then sounds weak and borning to me, definitely not "commerical."

A friend of mine is dying to see Metallica and wants to know the presale password. I haven't received anything in my email yet but I'm pretty sure there will be radio and Live Nation presales.

I guess it needs to be clarified.

The password: magnetic
Is for the Winnipeg Free Press presale.

Apparently you have to select which presale you're using when you go to buy tickets.

The best album was Ride the Lightening, with Master of Puppets a close second.

Ride The Lightning was astonishing. Master of Puppets was either a close second or just as good, but it wasn't a let down like their subsequent albums. I doubt they will ever come close to the glory of those two albums.
