Would you respect a major public figure for always telling the truth and posting all their thoughts on a blog/forum?

Would it be a good thing or a bad thing if say... our mayor was open and honest on a blog/forum..
or premier or prime minister.. you get the point.

There are only two people truly wasting time in the sandbox.

What makes you think that politician's would blog the truth any more than tell you the truth . Truth is something the party doe's not want you to hear.
After all you might really know how little they do for us and for them.

I think that would be a good thing. At least we would have all the facts. That way we can figure out together the best way to deal with the situation. I'd also like to see a politician that is 100% committed to what canada needs to deal with its imperfections..like poor and homeless, etc.

If the Prime Minister had a blog, who here thinks he would personally be blogging? The guy has speech writers for everything he says, (some of the speech writers actually work for the Australian PM, but that's another story).

The PM's blog would just be more from his staffers. No different that a press release.

I think Doer tries this, by having a radio forum every week/month?

At least I thought that's what was happening on CJOB. Several times I've turned it on and he was there answering questions about the Provincial issues.

I'm not sure an internet forum would be the best place. As we've seen...the anonymity factor will make many people disbelieve and distrust what was being presented. Additionally, it would offer too much opportunity for people to distort what's said for their own self-gain.

I would be interested to see/hear a radio or TV, or maybe even a web-video feed where the politician receives questions and discusses things "live". It would also be reasonable for a good politician to bring in his/her opponents for ongoing debates/discussions. Have a monthly/quarterly "forum" where the opponents get to present their concerns...they wouldn't be viable opponents if they didn't have people who followed them...so why not hear what they have to offer in order to help sway their constituents?

Not if you had the right person as a PM.

Having someone else blog in your place would be a lie and would not be open and honest... and as that was a requirement stated in the question why bring it up?

I'd be frightened by a PM that had time to blog. I'd tell him to get back to real work and quite playing on the interweb.

I'd rather have a PM that has time to blog
, then one doing underhanded deals in a
backroom somewhere

Doer's weekly radio appearance should be called "Dancing with the Premier", cause I've never heard a guy say so much without answering the question or addressing the issue put to him.
