Meh, so a little cockroach crawls on your face and in your mouth while you are sleeping once in a while, spiders do the same thing up in Canada. Besides, a little extra protein will do your body good!

If you're serious about moving, PM me and I'll give you some honest advice.

I immigrated the opposite direction (from the US to Canada), but the process is quite simple though detailed.

I might even have some contact information for job leads or moving if you'd like.

Wow...way to give back to your country. More like way to give em the finger. It's this attitude that pisses me off about medical students in this country. Considering that the majority of the cost is subsidized by the government it's a really great thing to be proud of (NOT). Get your education in Canada...and leave the day after you graduate. Wonder how many of them finished paying their student loans first (or ever)?

GrumpyRom I don't often agree with your point of view but on this one you are 100% correct. It stinks to high heaven that Canada is good enough to educate you but not good enough to work in. It comes down to nothing but greed in my opinion......where I come from if you take you also give back in.

Many people I know have relocated to different countries and that doesn't make them bad people. More money and more opportunity in the States. I know alot of people who are still in Canada and got BS degress in Political Science, BA or whatever defaulted on their loans...and I also know people who took out loans in the 80's and quit school shortly after that...instead of using the cash for school they took trips etc...and they defaulted on their loans.

My friends who relocated to the US most came from well off families and didn't need a student loan. How is that screwing Canada? Not their fault we live in a Socialist country with socialized medicine.

Like Unions? They take but don't give back.

I don't have a problem with someone who pays for education and decides to relocate. After all, aren't we living in a free country?

I have more of a problem with welfare recipients milking the system.

Yes..horrible that we have socialized medicine and education. I think we all see how much better the for-profit HMO system works in the US (for the doctors and nurses anyways). As long as your not a patient it's a wonderfull system for all involved.

Health care IMO is one field where profit truly is an evil word.

I for one like knowing that my physician is truly looking after my best interests, and doens't have to justify my treatment to a HMO (who's only self interest is to provide me with the cheapest treatment not the best).

Unions take from their members...not taxpayers. Medical students are primarily funded by the province.

Unions are EVIL. I have experience with them in the past and all I saw were the lazy incompetent workers being protected. Very sad for those who work hard.

My friends parents paid for University...no loans. And they never asked the government to fund them. I don't have a problem with them relocating to a warmer climate to make more money. But of course socialists and communists would see a problem with that.

Disagree big time Goth_chic. And you gotta know I'm no socialist or commie bastard.

Secondary education in Canada is heavily subsidized by the taxpayer. Especially in medical related disciplines.

While you may feel your friends paid for their education I can assure you they did not pay the entire ticket. I did. And Trinima did. And DeanK. And grumpyrom. Etcetera.

I do have a problem with our children running off to the US or where ever with their nursing or medical degree that the Canadian taxpayer partly funded.

If that continues then let those people go to the US to get their degree. They will be totally shocked at how much it would cost them. Better yet, pay the real cost back to the U of M or U of W.

Good Post! We have known several who have left and I agree it is wrong we invest and get nothing in return . Mainly because we are short of these professionals , and we need them . Though I agree it is hard to arque against them and their rights .

Why are people who leave Canada considered traitors? If there are more opportunities in the States, why is it considered wrong for them to pursue them? It's like saying people who leave Winnipeg for Alberta are assholes, which is a big crock of sh1t and shows how insecure people can be. My reason for leaving is mainly for warmer weather; but if I can make a few extra $$$$ a year and be taxed less, that is a big plus.

a) nobody is suggesting they are traitors
2) nobody is suggesting it is wrong go elsewhere in search of opportunities
c) people that leave Winnipeg for Calgary aren't assholes when they leave.

Have to disagree with you here GOM. The following comment essentially states what I said:

And all those that agree with this statement would essentially feel the same way.

Well, I'm basing this on those lovelies on NW who have a huge hate-on for ex-pat Winnipeggers, especially those in Alberta.

Signs of the coming apocolypse.... me and GOM sort of agree on something.lol!

I agree with GOM, if your going to up and leave the day after your heavily subsidized medical degree is awarded, you should have to pay the real cost of your degree back to the university. If I'm not mistaked the upwards of 80% of the true cost is subsidized in medical fields.

I still stand by my position, that while people are free to do what they want in this country it's still morally the wrong thing to do IMHO. And I've know far too many people entering that field with the intent to leave asap. In my opinion that's just being a greedy sob.
