HOW WINNIPEG RATES - THE CBC DOCUMENTARY-"Living City"

"Living City" by Christopher Hume on the CBC, makes some very interesting observations.
Winnipeg had the 1st skyscraper in Canada,(metal frame) built in 1905
Wpg- 1st electric lights in Canada
Wpg- 1st electric streetcar
Wpg has the most sunlight of major cities. They talk lots about the new Hydro building taking advantage of the sunlight.

But on the downside says that Winnipeg has failed to ADAPT!!
Who agrees with that??

To add to the list, Winnipeg was expected to be the first city in Canada to reach a population of a million, and that was to be in 1900. (I can't remember where I read that...sorry.)

Naw. It isn't a matter of adapting. It's a matter of geographical location and changing technologies I believe.

The country itself doesn't have a large enough population yet to make us "crowded" again. Plus, we do have what is believed to be a socialist government here. That'll attract a lot of business eh.

That commentary I remember reading in the Communist manifesto that was delivered to my residence on Mountain Avenue, that was before they invented postage stamps, but shortly after the wheel was invented.
It may have been delivered by the Co-op milk delivery personnel, via his horse drawn vehicle. (That is a memory that I have that you probably don't have!) We used to feed the horse carrots!

Winnipeg hasn't failed to adapt. The world has failed to adapt to Winnnipeg.
