I was skimming over local blogs for the first time in a few weeks and - lo and behold - 92.9 KICK-FM is no more. Here are some stories you should read:

TGCTS: Marty has posted several reports of people who filed submissions on the troubled KICK application for a CRTC licence renewal:

So, it looks like there was something unethical going on between the folks at the Free Press and Red River. Then Red River pulled the plug on TGCTS without following their by-laws. That, plus numerous false statements dating back to the cancellation of TGCTS, were compiled by at least four people. When it looked like the CRTC might investigate some of these people in order to rule on the licence application, Red River then chose to simply scuttle the whole thing, almost overnight on July 3rd.

Airchecker: This is a radio site. They made a complaint to the CRTC. I have quoted some information which sheds light on this.

The question is why Cre-Comm Inc. is hiding the current board membership from the public.

Over the past year and a half I have submitted extensive documentation showing how Cre-Comm Inc. has not followed CRTC policy and even their own bylaws.

Cre-Comm Inc. has a demonstrated history of being dishonest with both the public and the CRTC.

I am also extremely concerned regarding the transparency of these proceedings especially in light of Cre-Comm Inc.'s posting on their website regarding an "off the record" meeting with CRTC staff pertaining to licensing issues.

Cre-Comm Inc. claims that it was ignorant of a revised Campus Radio Policy that was nearly two years old.

During my initial contact with CRTC staff in December 2010, Ms. Cheryl Grossi told me that the CRTC did not involve itself in the day to day running of radio stations yet when I looked up the issues surrounding Harmony Communication in 2007 (Broadcasting decision 2007-037) I found this was not the case. Ms. Grossi was named as one of the attendees of the secret meeting between unnamed members of Cre-Comm Inc's board of directors and the CRTC.

Past conduct and this latest game of playing hide and seek with the Board is just one more reason the CRTC needs to seriously consider this broadcast application.

I have never even heard of 92.9fm what was its format? Rock, Country, Alt?

Having read all your links, are you surprised at the outcome? This country, province and city suffer from "Bureaucratitis". The CRTC is evolving into its own self governing dictatorship.
