Sure.. some of the teams are MOSTLY canadian players. But I seem to recall last time it happened the TV viewers dropped significantly.

I dunno. Perhaps there will be something of a drop-off in Canadian viewers. I can't imagine it would be much though. Would the drop-off in Canada be offset by an uptick in US viewers?

How would a dip in Canadian viewers have any affect on revenue for the NHL

Canadian TV contracts are guaranteed.

Oh and I am glad THOSE 2 teams are out anyway, its Jets and maybe , just maybe I would support the Canadiens

I'll keep tabs on the playoffs...but I'm not investing much time in actually sitting down and watching a complete game or series like I was in the first round.

Instead, I'll head out and start going to the gym early for summer training, buy a ball hockey net and work on my stick handling and accuracy, again, for next season.

I know many others who are doing the same.

It's been over 4 weeks since I played my last rec hockey game...doesn't take too long to fall off the fitness wagon.

As far as the NHL's bottom line, I don't think that will be affected, as the NHL's main source of revenue is from ticket sales. So, considering tickets for NHL games are by-and-large more expensive (those silly Canadians will pay how much to attend a hockey game?) than the US counterparts, especially with NYR being the only original 6 team left...Yeah, I suspect the playoff-payoff for the owners to take a bit of a hit.

If the NHL was that concerned, they would add more Canadian teams.

When less than 25% of the teams are Canadian, you can't expect them all to make the playoffs or make it deep into the playoffs if they do make it.

I suspect that it doesn't matter. Playoff TV contracts are pretty much set in stone for CBC and TSN and neither side will do anything to potentially lose that.

There is no effect to having no Canadian teams in the Playoffs past the first round.

However, if the final four were 4 Canadian teams, the drop off of American interest would be painful.

Now just imagine when the Nordiques come back, if the 8 Canadian teams were the only ones left standing after Round 1. I know, I know, it could never happen....

The NHL would like to have Detroit v LA and Rangers v Leafs in the final four. And Vancouver and Chicago losing in the west semis, and two of Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh (provided Crosby's playing) in the east semis.

It is obvious to me that we got the wrong team! we deserved Phoenix and they sold out to "our" white out theme! Apparently the 1st time "we" "our" original Jets team got a game into the 2nd round! lol

Good for Phoenix! How many original Jets do they have on thir team?

Is Teemu Salami the only other former Jet around? What did he have in goals this year? +45?? We need him back here!

Meet you at Portage and main tomorrrow morning? lol
