I was not expecting a playoff berth. And I was resigned to this after the Ottawa loss. But, still, tonight it became official when the Jets lost to Tampa in OT and Washington won the SO over Montreal.

Certainly not going to complain about this on their opening season. There are established teams out there that wish they were as good as the jets are. Next season will be a good one to keep an eye on.

if the Jets were the worst team in the LEAGUE...and had not beat some of the best teams out there...then I'd probably be disappointed...
But here we are less than a 1/2 dozen games left...and they were still contenders...
and there were other teams eliminated BEFORE the Jets...
All the teams can't make it every year...and some of the best teams out there still lost games....so this was a good "learning" year...and a chance for the fans to prove they are here to stay!!!
I think next year will be the "proving" year. To show if the team is willing to do what they need to do to win...or if they are going to pretend they are still in Atlanta and playing for empty seats.
But here we are less than a 1/2 dozen games left...and they were still contenders...

What do you mean, playing for empty seats?
They had one of the better home records in the NHL this year, it's not like they were going through the motions at home like they may have in Atlanta

meaning they need to up their game because they have fans that will support them if they at least TRY to do well...unlike Atlanta where the stadium was 1/2 empty and even when they did well they didn't have the support.

NHL teams need time to build. Atlanta was at least O.K., but with a new couch and 'new' team, they need a couple years to get sh1t together.
