Apparently Collecting Child Support and Welfare Should Be Allowed

My understanding is if the father is known welfare will go after him. I imagine there are always multiple fathers, unknown fathers, dead-beat and marginalized fathers...

It is obvious that there is a significantly vocal group of people out there that disagree with her stance on Child Support Payments.

If she had a job, this wouldn't even be an issue, nor would she have been harassed on the internet.

I do agree with what she is trying to do, but I also agree that the government has a right to ensure that welfare isn't being abused.

All bureaucracies,and all Conservatives believe in keeping poor people poor, especially when they can affect young children.

Why should money ear marked for children be alowed to get to te children? It makes no sens at all.

This is especially if there is only one parent in the picture, because we know how wealthy a mother of 3 on a $1500 allowance per month would be !

She chose to be a mother of three, we have birth control and other means of preventing people from having children they can't possibly afford.

I am all for helping people who need assistance getting on their feet due to unforeseen circumstances such as a job loss, or sickness. That is what Welfare is intended for, not so that a parent can sit at home and pump out babies to increase their bottom line. I am tired of some people in this country that always seem to have their hand out expecting the government to support them.

Having read through the article again you are correct, in actuality the province may have to pay back the money as it was ruled in the Supreme court that child support payments were for the child and not the parent.

I stand corrected.

I can see why people are angry though, the system is being abused by a lot of people who could otherwise work or support themselves. I know as a taxpayer I am frustrated when I see groups having their hands out for government money. But that is for a completely different thread.

yup. Quite frankly I am thinking of joining this class action suit in support of the child I pay support to, since he was ripped off by the system for so many years.

From a tax perspective they ARE income.

The receiver pays tax on them and the payer gets a write off.

Perhaps some of us are just getting overwhelmed by the amount of "Need" out there.
And it does not help when resources which should be going to "Need" are being diverted to "Wants"!
(And no, they are not the same thing in my eyes!)

My point about making a negative remark regarding my Conservative Party, is that whatever the issue, "we" seem to pick on those that are in need and are the least able to defend themselves.

I am laughing at both the Republican party in the usa and my Conservatives in Canada, who are mean spirited in their treatment of everyone, except themselves.

And it doesn't matter what you are trying to get done, there is not enough money to get it done.

That lady with 3 kids is right about the kids money being clawed back .

We are all , or almost all, (not me) tired of women having more kids than they can raise in a reasonable mannr and having kids with no father contributing is so f cking stupid.

If I didn't get old age money, I don't know what I would do. That is no different than the lady with 3 or 6 kids.

I was too stupid in not putting money away, and I was warned about that 40 years ago!
