I notice that Pat Martin's name hasn't been credited/associated to the penny plan. He was laughed at a few years ago when recommending it.

Why? I seldom carry money around with me to begin with. But I hate getting paper dollar bills down in the states.

I find that I use plastic for about 80% of my purchases (mostly debit card). That makes coins and paper almost useless.

The stripper element is a most compelling argument in favour of the paper dollar. We should conduct a comprehensive test.

Shall we begin that test today?

So Teaser's then? What time. Let's see if they prefer paper money over coins.

I think strippers would prefer to keep it as is...since the smallest bills that can be offered are $5...much better than a $1 "tip".

will this impact gas prices? ie.. everything listed at the 5 cent mark now?

ie 1.20, 1.25, 1.30
?

No. Gas is already priced to the tenth of a penny and is rounded accordingly should you only buy one liter.

so... say the price is 1.175

I will pay $1.20 on one litre, but 11.75 on ten?

If you pay by cash I believe it will be rounded up. If you pay by plastic you will pay exactly what the cost is.

My understanding is that if you pay by cash, and it's say $1.12, then you will pay $1.10, but if it's $1.13 or $1.14, then you will pay $1.15.

Wonder how long it will take all the stores to adjust their product prices so the totals with tax hit that $1.13 mark?

And where's the extra $.02 go? To the store? To the government? Do they have to declare the $.02 as income?
