We keep getting reassured that FINAL cost of the new stadium is $190 million. No ifs ands or buts about it.

Yet... construction is DELAYED big time. They are only admitting to 60 days right now.. but chances are good it will be longer then that,

Workers and equipment dont just sit there not being expensed for 60 days.. so.. will the stadium come in at $190 million? Or will it be more?

I say... $215 Million.

anyone else care to throw out a number?

In our business if we don't work we don't get paid. While I believe delays do cost construction companies in extra labour costs it is not a fluid and linear line. Lay-off's and reassignments account for that.

To answer the question, I fear the number may be higher due to rumours about the "roof". Your $215 million is likely the low end. Probably $2150$220 million.

245 million and we won't be in it until 2013 season

Wouldn't it be cheaper and hence better to forget the roof, and issue Walmart umbrellas, $4 each x 33,000 = $132,000?

I live close to the stadium and drive by it often.

I am no expert, but I find it hard to believe that this will be ready at all for this season.

I believe they have been working on the east side roof for at least three months and look to be about 2/3rds complete.

They have just started on the west side ramps steel structure (which probably took two months on the east side)

Then the west side roof.

From what I understand, they have not done any work and can't do any work on the lower bowl until the roof supports are removed.

Anywayh, I look forward when its open, it will be so much better than what we have now

Looks like it will be a further delay.

At the end of January Garth Buchko categorically stated.. "We will NOT be playing any games at the old stadium this season"....... Strike 1

Jim Bell (in early March)..... "We'll be ready with the new stadium for our home opener on July 26th"..... (not official but I'm calling it)........ Strike 2

Yesterday Garth Buchko again.. "The new stadium will be on budget and there will be no cost-over-runs. This could be true but only because they'll never announce the final costs. An extra 2 or 3 or 4 months of labor would automatically put the project over budget? Yes ? No?

Hard to say what impact weather related delay's will have on the cost of the stadium. Traditionally a bid is made for a specific "action" at a specific "cost". Usually when one does not work one does not get paid.

Of course while some trades might not be working because of weather (wind for instance) other trades would work.

As to announcing costs is this not a public facility? And is not the government funding it? They have an obligation to be transparent. Let's hold their feet to the fire and demand a full accounting.

What was the original price tag for the taxpayer portion of the new stadium? 40 Million?

Fast forward a couple of years and now we the tax payers are on the hook for how much? 190million? 250Million?

I'd be frigging angry if I went into a car dealership and bought a car for $15000 dollars and then had them tell me that the cost had ballooned to $25000 and I'd have to wait half a year for delivery because they were behind in production.

No wonder our taxes are going up. $50.00 user fee for garbage, 6.5% education tax in my area, 3.?% increase in mill rate, increase in water& waste again this year.

Price of Season Tickets went up, and my disposable income is being eroded because of all the waste and frivolous spending by all levels of Government. Enough is Enough.

I'm seriously contemplating moving to a province(or state) with less taxes.

Canada is a capitalist society with a heavy dose of socialism. We can't escape socialized pro sport or pro sport facilities. That's the Canadian way.

What if the NDP refused to put tax money into the new stadium? They wouldn't be re-elected. Would the Tories have said no funding the stadium? Nope. If you think people are angry now with careless spending, there would be even more outrage if the Province refused to help pay for the stadium.

Welcome to Soviet Canukistan.

It's not just Canada. Most city/states fund stadiums and arenas.

I noticed that they yet again said. no way no how are we going above 190 million...

ooo except this new added feature which.. DONT WORRY THE FOOTBALL CLUB IS FUNDING ENTIRELY..

excuse me? You are funding the whole thing entirely.. what the hell you mean this is a separate cost?

also.. yeah right.. no way no how its going to exceed 190.

it will be closer to $260M when they open the doors, and then another $20-30M in deficiencies and "upgrades"

It also won't open till about the 4th game of the regular season.

So by the end of August?

I don't think they will even have the canopy framing finished on the west side until mid July if not later (it took them at least 4 months to get where they are now on the east side, today they put the final piece of iron in the curved structure) they still have to do all the cables, and install the actual roof on the east side. They can't remove the supports until the cables and roof are installed.

I say it's finished for the 2013 opener, and I don't want to go into a half finished stadium this year. i would rather wait

I've been personally told that all flooring is scheduled to be finished before the end of July...and that the construction managers are not letting the trade(s) out of the deadline for that.

Flooring can't start till structural is complete...so it looks like they are pushing it to get done.

That would be great, but if it's super windy, could delay it
